Frenchie 101

Need help knowing what to buy for your puppy? We got you covered!

  • Food and water bowls. We suggest stainless steel or ceramic bowls.
  • Food. Puppies need food specific for them to make sure they are getting enough nutrients and calories to help them grow. Our favorite brands are either Dr. Gary’s Best Breed or Nature’s Logic.
  • Crate. Whenever you can’t keep an eye on your puppy, put them in their crate so they don’t get into trouble.
  • Bed. Make sure your puppy has their own bed to call their own.
  • TOYS! Get a variety of toys for your puppy to keep them busy and stimulated. Try to include balls, crinkly toys, squeaky toys, ropes, and puppy safe bones. We love Bark Box for any new pawrent.
  • Training Treats. Get healthy training treats for your pup. We love freeze dried meat treats for this because they brake into small pieces very easily.
  • Potty training bells. This is a total game changer! It’s super easy to teach them and saves you and your family from so many potty accidents.
  • Poop bags. Need we say more?
  • Wipes. Welcome to Frenchie Life! After they do their business, they do need their bums wiped now and then. Make sure to have dog wipes on hand for this.
  • Shampoo. Puppies get messy so fast!
  • Nail clippers. To keep you and them safe and comfortable.
  • Collar, leash, & name tag. Incase your puppy gets lost, make sure they have your information on them.

Flea/Tick & Heartworm Prevention

We believe in holistic health care when it comes to taking care of our dogs. The side effects of products like Next Guard and Heart Guard to prevent fleas, ticks, and mosquitoes are terrifying! We would never wish these on anyones dog! Because of this, we use Wondercide products on our dogs for this. It’s just a spray and it smells great! We even use it around our house to keep the bugs away.

Treating Allergies

Frenchies are known to get allergies and have sensitive stomachs. Just like humans, what they put into their bodies effects them so much. This is why we encourage high quality kibble, like Dr. Gary’s Best Breed or Nature’s Logic, or a raw diet. We encourage meat only treats and to avoid all the junk food like Milk Bones. Avoid feeding your adult frenchie any chicken products. If you notice your frenchie experiencing allergy symptoms, first try a change of food and treats. Even a different choice of protein can make a big difference.
